When is Purim in 2019?
Purim in 2019 will start on Thursday, the 21st of March (21/3/2019) and will continue for 2 days until Friday, the 22nd of March.
Purim is celebrated annually according to the Hebrew calendar on the 14th day of the Hebrew month of Adar (and on Adar II in Hebrew leap years that take place every 2 to 3 years).
In cities that were protected by a surrounding wall at the time of the Biblical Joshua, Purim is instead celebrated on the 15th of the month of Adar on what is known as Shushan Purim. Today, only Jerusalem and a few other cities celebrate Purim on the 15th of Adar.
Note that in the Jewish calander, a holiday begins on the sunset of the previous day, so observing Jews will celebrate Purim on the sunset of Wednesday, the 20th of March.
