What is Halloween? The holiday of Halloween originated under the name of Samhain as a Pagan Celt festival in Ireland and Great Britain, and immigrants from these countries brought this tradition to North America. The term Halloween is shortened from All-hallow-even, as it is the evening of/before "All Hallows' Day", also known as "All Saints' Day".
Today Holloween is celebrated with such traditional activities as having scary costume parties and watching horror movies. Kids go out trick-or-treating on Holloween eve. |
